Why it exists
Most local news apps are a second copy of the website's content system. The Dispatch reads the same feed the website already publishes, so a story only has to exist once.
A reader for TNAADO's newsroom. Published stories, a live incident map of the city, and original video from the Show, all in one place. Signing in is optional, and only needed to manage a subscription.

How it got made.

Idea
A reader before anything fancier
TNAADO already ran a newsroom on the web: stories, a live map, and original video from the Show. The simplest next step was a phone app that reads the same thing, not a rebuild.
So The Dispatch launched first, deliberately plain, ahead of the citizen reporting app built to come after it.

No app backend, on purpose
The app runs no server of its own. It reads the same feed the website already publishes for articles, headlines, and the Show, so nothing has to be written twice.
The live map is honest about what it shows. Traffic, weather, and transit update in real time. Crime and fire lag behind, because no live public feed for either exists yet.
